Mark Zuckerberg Net Worth 2014 – 2015: $27.1 Billion
Mark Elliot Zuckerberg, God, I don’t even know where to begin with this guy, just thinking about all the money he has makes me sick, especially when I think about his age, I mean, I don’t have any problems at all with 50 year old plus billionaires, but when a guy my age, or even younger makes it this big, it just makes me jealous. However, I’m not the one to blame, it’s actually his fault for being so smart, and I don’t hate him either, in fact, I only feel respect and admiration for this kid, he’s an internet titan, just like John D. Rockefeller was an oil titan back in his heyday.
I would not be lying if I said that Mark Zuckerberg is a self-made billionaire who has built a vast technology empire with his bare hands, because he actually has, in fact, he created one of the world’s most powerful companies, and the biggest social networking website on the planet “Facebook” using nothing but the tip of his fingers.
Now, I now that a lot of people think that he stole the idea of Facebook.com from the Winklevoss twins, Cameron and Tyler, because they accused Mark of using their ideas about a social network that he was going to help them build called HarvardConnection.com. Apparently the accusations made by the Winklevoss twins and Divya Narendra were at least in part true, because after this group of three men decided to file a lawsuit against Zuckerberg they ended up getting 1.2m of Facebook shares to settle their claim. Which means that the company that Mark founded has made a lot of people wealthy, not just Eduardo Saverin, Sean Parker, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes, but you can also add the Winklevoss twins and Divya Narendra to that list too.
Mark Zuckerberg began using computers and writing programs at a very young age, in fact, when he was just a kid his father taught him Atari BASIC programming, and then he hired a software developer called David Newman to tutor Mark privately once a week. According to Mark’s biography Newman later said that the kid was a prodigy, and that it was really hard to keep up with him. When Zuckerberg began classes at Harvard he was already considered a programming genius, because he had previously developed a music player called “Synapse Media Player” which was even featured at PC Magazine. And then, in his sophomore year he came up with two interesting programs that received a lot of attention and became very popular among the Harvard crowd, they were called CourseMatch and Facemash, and if you saw the movie “The Social Network”, then I’m sure you know all about Facemash already.
Mark Elliot Zuckerberg’s source of wealth is mainly Facebook, but we cannot forget all the other internet and technology companies that Facebook has acquired over the years such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and more recently Oculus VR, which is a virtual reality technology company that Facebook just bought for over $2 billion dollars.
But, how much is Mark Zuckerberg really worth? Well, according to Forbes Magazine and Bloomberg’s Billionaires list Zuckerberg has an estimated net worth of $27.1 Billion dollars as of 2014. Mark has a salary of only $1 dollar per year, well, at least that’s what he says.
