Magic Johnson

Earvin Magic Johnson Net Worth 2014 – 2015: $560 Million

Magic Johnson is a former professional basketball player whose career really shined back in the 1980s and mid 90s, his incredbile skills on the court were unique, that’s why everybody started calling him “Magic”, because his moves and his talent seemed unreal, that’s also why he has always been among my top favorite basketball players of all time. Johnson played during one of the best basketball eras in history, for example, as a Laker he was able to play alongside the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a man who many experts believe to be one of the very best professional basketball players who ever lived, he also had the chance to be a part of the 1992 Summer Olympics USA basketball team, also known as “The Dream Team”, where he played alongside Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley among several others. Magic also faced some of the best opposition that a top level athlete could wish for, because it’s a well known fact that athletes must face the most skilled opposition in order to achieve the mastery of his or her sport.

Magic Johnson Giving a Speech

Magic Johnson was blessed with physical qualities that very few basketball players have ever possessed, as described in Wikipedia “he had the one on one skills of a swingman, the ball handling talent of a guard, and the size of a power forward”, all of which combined allowed him to become the second all time triple double leader with 138 triple-doubles as a professional NBA player, right after Oscar Robertson who had 181 triple-doubles throughout his career in the league. Johnson led the Los Angeles Lakers to 5 NBA Championships, he’s also a three time NBA Finals MVP, and a three-time NBA Most Valuable Player, not to mention that he is an Olympic Gold Medalist, a 12-time NBA All-Star, 2-time NBA All-Star Game MVP, 4-time NBA assist leader, a 2-time NBA steals leader, and he holds several other records which I’m sure you already know about.

I think that Magic is a truly inspirational person, because despite being diagnosed as HIV positive in the early 90s, he has been able to move on in order to lead a full and normal life just like you and me. In fact, when he played for the USA Olympic basketball team, he had already been diagnosed as HIV-positive, and even though he did retire for a while, Johnson made a comeback as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers during the 93-94 and 94-95 NBA seasons. Earvin decided to make a comeback as a professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers in 1995, and he actually helped his team make it to the playoffs where they lost against the defending NBA champions the Houston Rockets. After the 1995-1996 NBA season was over, Johnson announced his permanent retirement from the NBA.

After retiring from basketball, Earvin focused on making money, he became an avid businessman with a great eye for opportunity. He became a popular motivational speaker and founded a company called “Magic Johnson Enterprises”, which has a net worth of over $700 million dollars. Magic also made a very important deal with Starbucks, he purchased 125 Starbucks stores which opened in urban communities throughout the United States, and then, according to Forbes Magazine he sold them back to the company and pocketed more than $100 million dollars in that one single deal. Forbes also mentioned that he has a stake in the MLB team Los Angeles Dodgers and then WNBA team Los Angeles Sparks, not to mention that he has several other businesses that touch on healthcare, insurance, food services, and more.

How Much is Magic Johnson Really Worth?
